Japanese Shiatsu
I have studied Japanese Shiatsu exclusively in Japan for over 10 years.
Shiatsu means “Finger Pressure”. Originating in Japan Shiatsu has its roots in Oriental medicine as it has the same Meridians and Acupoints of Qi energy as acupuncture. Instead of needles I use fingers palms elbows feet and thumbs to massage acupoints and meridians, restoring balance to the Qi in the body. Some stretching and manipulation of the body is also done.
Shiatsu is done on a Japanese Futon mattress at floor level. Patients wear comfortable clothing throughout.
Shiatsu is a holistic therapy and a full consultation is done on the first visit. Shiatsu is relaxing and invigorating and is effective for joint pain, reduced mobility, musculoskeletal disorders and back pain, headaches and migraine, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression and other emotional problems. Some patients have regular Shiatsu with me to maintain their health and mobility
Foot and Hand Reflexology
Reflexology dates back to China, Egypt and India .Reflexology works on the feet to help heal the whole person and body not just symptoms. The body is reflected in the soles of the feet so by using pressure on these specific areas we can restore the body’s natural balance.
I offer Traditional Chinese style Reflexology which is harder and concentrates 0n promoting the flow of Qi in the body and Western style Reflexology which is more gentle and takes into account the zones on the feet.
Reflexology is suitable for most people and all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. After completing a course of Reflexology for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to come once a month to maintain health and well being.
Reflexology has been shown to be effective for
- Back pain
- Migraine
- Fertility
- Arthritis
- Stress
- Sleep Disorders
- Sports injuries
- Digestive disorders
- Hormonal imbalances
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a lighter massage therapy using aromatic oils from flowers leaves and trees. In my massage each blend is tailored to the individual .The healing properties of the oils and the techniques of massage bring relief from physical and mental ailments.
The massage takes one and a quarter hours. One hour on the body and 15 minutes for a facial. Separate blends are chosen for the face and body. Where possible I try to source Organic Aromatherapy oils and carrier oils. Sometimes I travel abroad and source particular oils from that country.
Cupping
I have started to do a lot more cupping in my clinic both Traditional Fire Cupping and dry cupping. Recently treating patients for lung problems, asthma, cough, viruses and hearing problems, stiff shoulders and generally to improve the immune system.
